I have been studying and practicing yoga for 20 years, teaching for 15 years and specialising in Yoga for Fertility for 10 years. I have an Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teaching and, in addition to my online courses, regularly teach classes, workshops and courses to hundreds of wonderful women every year.
My own fertility journey took 5 years, so this course comes from a deep place of knowing. Of understanding the headspace that so many of us are in when we are trying to successfully conceive.
I would love to tell you that I was calm and centred throughout my fertility treatment, but I wasn’t. I was holding on so tightly to the wish of having a baby I could barely breathe. My attitude towards doctors was ‘fix it’, ‘cure me’, ‘make it happen’, and after many IVF procedures, miscarriages and horrible clinical experiences I hit rock bottom.
My job was stressful. I was working full time and long hours. So, I quit my job and decided to go back to College and study yoga full time for a year. I found tools that helped me find peace during a traumatic time. As I started to take control of my breath and posture, I found I was more able to take control of my thoughts and emotions that came from them. I still desperately wanted a baby but I found that a shift had happened, I was able to de-stress and find some calm.
The practices that I’m about to teach you helped me reframe my thoughts, replacing negativity with a more positive headspace. I found I was happier and more in control of me and my fertility journey. Finally after nearly 5 years of trying our beautiful twin boys arrived having taken their own sweet time getting here…
I learnt so many tools that had helped, and I thought that if these tools helped me then maybe they can help other women just like me. This is where Yoga for Fertility started.
